Athlete Bio

A technical and progressive pipe skier, Dorey is one of the most exciting riders in the 'biz. He has superpipe podiums from every major competition--except X Games, where he's 0 for 8 (he does own silver from 2010's High Air). He has a best place finish of 4th from Aspen in 2009. Dorey qualified first at the 2014 Winter Olympics but then fell during the final, severely bruising his left knee. He considered retiring after the Olympics but, after a long summer of rehab, he's back and upping the ante for Aspen in 2015 with a new trick--a switch flatspin 360. "Even trying to visualize it is hard," he says.

You Don't Say?

  • Though Dorey has competed in X Games Aspen Ski SuperPipe eight times, he has yet to medal. He does, however, own a 2010 SuperPipe High Air silver as well as two X Games Tignes medals including a 2011 silver and 2010 bronze. He finished 1st in qualifying at the 2014 Winter Olympics but then fell in the final.
