Athlete Bio

Mike Schultz is a two-sport athlete at X Games Aspen 2015. He'll be an overwhelming favorite for the five-peat in SnoCross Adaptive, and he'll test his mettle -- and his company's own equipment -- in Snowboarder X Adaptive. In an about-face from other years, he's spent very little time prepping for SnoCross and a lot of time on his snowboard as a new member of the U.S. Paralympic team. A longtime tinkerer, Schultz, an above-the-knee amputee, built his own special knee and prosthetic leg to accommodate his numerous activities and now has his own company, Biodapt. Mike won both World Cup boardercross races in Aspen prior to X Games.

You Don't Say?

  • Mike has seven X Games medals, including six gold across 12 X Games appearances. He competed in SnoCross five times with a best-finish of ninth in 2007 before losing his leg in a December 2008 snocross crash. He is a two-sport athlete for X Games Aspen 2015: SnoCross Adaptive and Snowboarder X Adaptive.
