Athlete Bio

At 48, McCoy is in his 30th year as a professional athlete and will make his 22nd X Games appearance at Austin 2015. In 2014, when he landed a 900 and took bronze in BMX Vert (his 6th medal), McCoy set an X Games record for longest gap between medals: 16 years. McCoy is also the fourth-oldest medalist in X Games history and the only person to have competed in every X Games BMX Vert competition. McCoy has organized and promoted events, worked in the TV booth and is one of the very few vert riders who can throw a 900 on a regular basis. He backs that up with several 540 variations, including barspin-to-barspin-back.
