2013 Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards
Winning both the "Biggest Wave" and "Biggest Paddle-In" awards, Shawn Dollar stole the show at the 2013 Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards. His 61-foot Cortes Bank wave also earned him a world record.

"Ride of the Year" and "Biggest Tube" awards went to Shane Dorian for this wave at Jaws.
Winner of the $50,000 "Ride of the Year" prize, Shane Dorian continues to set the pace for what is possible in the biggest surf.
Ian Walsh, Shane Dorian
One's sarcastic, the other's as serious as a poison dart to the jugular. Walsh and Dorian may be big-wave surfing's odd couple, but what's particularly odd is how far they've been able to push each other, which in turn has pushed the sport as a whole.
If there was any question before Oct. 9, Shane Dorian is unequivocally the best big-wave surfer in the world today. After pulling into 25-foot tubes like this, he cemented his position as the frontrunner for the 2012 Billabong XXL Ride of the Year award.
Kennelly, winner of the "Girls Performance" award, gave the best speech of the night, calling out the surf industry to step up and support more big-wave women.
Along with Keala Kennelly, Paige Aims gave the women something to cheer for. Not only are they out in the lineup with the world's best men, they're catching bombs like this. Former ASP world champion Carissa Moore called them "inspiring."

When Greg Long calls this the pinnacle of is big-wave career it means something. In a conversation five days after riding this wave he was still obviously spinning from the experience.

A pulled-back look at the wave that got Long. "I had taken off on the second wave of a four-wave set and was forced to straighten out," Long explained in a statement to the press.
"I was stabilized onboard the boat by the lifeguards and paramedics who were part of our safety team, and a Coast Guard helicopter was summoned to transport me back to San Diego," Long said.

Grant "Twiggy" Baker
Cutting his teeth at Dungeons, near Cape Town, South Africa, today Twiggy's a fixture in any lineup that's pushing 20-plus feet. And he usually comes away with "wave of the day" honors. This one earned him a couple of pats on the back.
Jaws, Waimea, Maverick's, Cortes Bank, Dorian stands out at all of them. And earlier this month he made the quarterfinals of the Pipe Masters. Is there any wave he can't ride?
