As with any air, speed is the key. After generationing enough momentum Andino eyes his prospective ramp and readies his feet.
Moment of Departure
Hitting the lip in just the right spot, Andino unweights himself from his board and prepares to go skyward, while his sightline reveals that he's also already thinking about spotting his landing.
No time to waste when whipping a full three. Immediately after breaking free of the lip Andino goes into his rotation, uncorking his shoulders and guiding the tail of his board with his back foot.
Hovering above the wave mid-maneuver, Andino's main focus now is to keep his weight squared up over his board and the water. Note how open his stance is, allowing him the most control in the air.
Spotting The Landing
As Andino descends he's still finishing his rotation, but has to start thinking about the landing. The fun part's over, now it's time for the hard work.
Make or Break
If you're wondering why so many guys are hurting their ankles these days this landing's a pretty good demonstration of how dangerous they can be. Landing out in the flats, anything can happen at this point.
Sneaking in the final few degress of the rotation in the whitewater, Andino's made it all the way through the maneuver cleanly and unscathed. His body's low, tight and compact to see the ride through to completion.
The No-Claim Claim
Arms glued to his sides, there will be no De Souza-like fist pump. Andino knows he stuck it, that's enough.
