    Malinoski sweeps snocross openers

    Robbie Malinoski swept both Pro Open events at the Duluth National on Saturday and Sunday in the first weekend of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross season at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minn.

    Malinoski, of Lino Lakes, Minn., went wire-to-wire for the victory Sunday and was joined on the podium by Scheuring Speed Sports teammates Tim Tremblay of Ste. Jeanne D'Arc, Quebec, in second and Darrin Mees of Stanchfield, Minn., in third.

    "With everybody up here from Scheuring Speed Sports, this is pretty exciting," Malinoski said in a release. "Everybody came through. Darrin's up here with this first-ever podium. Tim raced great -- again. My Ski-Doo pulled another great holeshot … I'm speechless!"

    On Saturday, Tremblay joined Malinoski on the podium by finishing third with Ross Martin of Burlington, Wis., in second.

    Andrea Renaud of Val-D'or, Quebec, won the Pro Lite class on Sunday, followed by Dylan Hall of Ayr, Ontario, and Andrew Lieders of Colby, Wis. David Joanis of Cochrane, Ontario, took the Pro Lite victory Saturday, with Jake Scott of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., in second and Lieders in third.

    Rounds 3 and 4 of the eight-stop snocross season will take place Dec. 7-8 at Blackjack Resort in Bessemer, Mich.
