Snowboard on the Block 2013
More than 25 snowboard flicks premiered Saturday at Snowboard on the Block in Denver. For just $15, attendees caught a first glimpse at some of the most anticipated films of the season -- rain or shine -- and performances by a healthy roster of bands and DJs. Click through to get the pros' notes on which movies they were most excited to see.
Lucas Magoon, Andrew Brewer ~ FODT Crew
"We filmed all year -- went to Japan, Lithuania, Salt Lake City, Boston. It was amazing," said Brewer. "My video part should be coming out soon online." Magoon had some praise for the other films showing at Snowboard on the Block, saying, "I'm super excited for the Videograss film and 'Dj Vu.' You got Scotty Stevens, Keegan Valaika, Chris Bradshaw's part, but [I'm] definitely hyped on Stevens' part. I'd have to say, that's snowboarding right there."
The Ice Man Cometh
The crew worked hard to set up the rail-jam features, pumping out ice to make snow on the course.
"We're here to see some crazy heavy metal bands and watch some snowboard videos," said Wall, who acted as festival emcee. "I'm most stoked to see [TransWorld's] 'Nation,' but I'm hyped for all of [the films]."
Marc Frank Montoya
"I'm just stoked to be in Colorado," said MFM, who, with Eddie Wall, also emceed the event. "I want to watch all the movies and see who's the new hot s---."
Scorpion Child performed for a sold-out crowd at Snowboard on the Block. They were part of a massive lineup of bands and DJs that kicked out the jams all day long and into the after-party.
David Carrier Porcheron ~ "YES. Missions"
"I'm stoked to check out TransWorld's 'Nation' movie," said DCP. "Austen Sweetin killed it from our team this year. That movie is pretty awesome, and then we're showing the 'YES. Missions' debrief; that's a pretty good one too, a 22-minute promo vid of bangers. 'Dj Vu' is a bada-- movie; I saw that last week. Frank April is just totally killing it."
Austen Sweetin ~ "Nation," "YES. Missions"
"This season I'm really hyped on the TransWorld 'Nation' movie. Austin Hironaka's part is amazing, and I'm really excited to see the Absinthe movie ['Dopamine']."
Ted Borland ~ "Brain Dead and Having a Heart Attack"
"This year was awesome filming for Think Thank's 'Brain Dead and Having a Heart Attack'; we went east a few times, stayed with my parents, brought the whole crew out, so that was real fun. We drove around in Lucy's van the whole year and gave 'em hell. I'm psyched to see all the videos this year. I need to see 'Dj Vu' -- Big Lou, Big Frank, all those guys. That video is probably the most anticipated for me."
TransWorld Media, "Nation"
TransWorld's film, 'Nation,' premiered on the big screen just before the rain started to fall.
Nial Romanek ~ "Brain Dead and Having a Heart Attack"
"My season went pretty well filming with Think Thank again for their 10th movie. I'm just hyped on everyone's part; mostly it's just homies. If I know the person, I'm just hyped for them. I love everybody's snowboarding."
Jordan Mendenhall ~ "The Last One"
Mendenhall's band, Wildcat Strike, played a set during Snowboard on the Block. He filmed with Videograss for their offering this year.
Charlie Hoch ~ "Slap Happy"
"I'm really excited to see TransWorld's 'Nation' movie. I'm especially stoked for Austin Hironaka's part. My season was great; I got to spend a lot of time in Alaska, shredding with friends. It was awesome."
Scotty Vine, Dylan Alito
Vine and Alito wait to drop during the rail jam. "Honestly, right now I'm just most stoked to snowboard," said Vine of the event. "Even though it's not real snow, it's just super rad. I'm excited for everybody's videos coming out, all the movie premieres. I'm going to get home and buy a bunch of videos and watch them all."

Dylan Alito ~ "#IP3," "Project LTC," "Roll Call," "Smoke Signals"
"My buddy Zach Rawles made a film called 'Smoke Signals' with all of our group of friends and it turned out really good, so we're doing another one this year and hopefully it will turn out even better. I have a little part in there as well as [in] '#IP3,' ['Roll Call' by] Keep the Change and ['Project LTC' by] Lick The Cat."
Brandon Hobush ~ "Roll Call"
"My favorite person to film with is Dylan Alito, for sure. He always has an insane part; [it] usually isn't just one, but a couple cool parts in a lot of different videos. He's got a little segment in [the film from] Keep the Change and then also some shots in [the one from] Lick the Cat. But his main part is going to be in Volcom's '#IP3,' which is going to be a hammer part! I was with him a lot this season; he's mind-blowing, for sure. I'm also really hyped to see 'Dj Vu'; I haven't seen that yet. I'm so stoked to see all the Canadians shred it up and kill it."
Dylan Thompson ~ "Nation," FODT Crew
"This year I filmed for 'Nation.' I did a couple trips with the TransWorld crew and filmed the rest with Cole Taylor and the FODT crew. I'm really hyped for Bode Merrill's project, 'Merrill Time.' He always has sick stuff, so I'm really hyped to see what he did this season."
Austin Julik-Heine ~ "Smoke Signals"
"'Smoke Signals' is sick: Colorado snowboarding, all the homies, Colorado riders, Colorado spots. We're really trying to get you to know what it's all about here."
Michael Wick ~ "Project LTC"
"We're here to party, hang out, snowboard and have fun. I'm super stoked on Nils Mindnich's part; he's killing it so hard. He's just a boss on the snowboard. I'm also super stoked on the Videograss film -- sick soundtrack, everybody's partying and having fun."

Madison Ellsworth ~ "YES. Missions"
"I went out with DCP a lot this season; those guys are insane. They taught me a ton of stuff and I can only learn from them, and I just want to keep learning and shred as hard as possible. Keep the shred alive and keep it real."
Zach Rawles ~ "Smoke Signals"
"'Smoke Signals' was a project my buddies and I made," said Rawles, who also directed the film. "It's a project I've always wanted to do but never had the opportunity. It kinda got passed along and turned out better than ever."
"I'm always hyped on my crew, Think Thank. Jesse Burtner is one of my favorite people to snowboard with, as well as Sean Genovese and the Dinosaurs Will Die crew. I really like watching what him, Chris Larson and Ben Bogart are up to. I'd also say that Scotty Stevens is one of my favorite riders out there, so his Videograss part is always highly anticipated."
