Real Snow 2013 drops January 8

    By ESPN Action Sports

    Published Wednesday December 26, 2012

While the rest of us were preparing for the apocalypse, flooding malls looking for last-minute holiday gift shopping and/or stuffing our mouths full of ham and pumpkin pie, the contenders for Real Snow 2013, X Games Aspen's all-urban all-video contest, have been out in the streets working hard, filming the final tricks for their video parts.

This year, 2011 and 2012 gold medalist Dan Brisse will defending his title against 2011 and 2012 silver medalist and 2012 Fan Favorite Louif Paradis and 2012 bronze medalist Pat Moore. Real Snow veterans Bode Merrill (2012) and Jeremy Jones (2011) will also be joining the competition, along with 2010 Winter X Slopestyle gold medalist Eero Ettala and Real Snow rookies Ethan Deiss and Frank April.

Though Real Snow is an X Games medal event, with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded by a panel of industry-elite judges to three deserving riders during the live broadcast of X Games Aspen, here online the excitement centers around the Fan Favorite award, which is decided in a three-week voting bracket that will go live on XGames.com on Jan. 8.

Voting for each round will be open for a week, with the semifinal round starting on Jan. 15 and the final round starting on Jan. 22. X Games medal winners will be announced on Jan. 24, but the Fan Favorite voting window will be open until midnight ET on Jan. 27 for snowboard fans to register their agreement or opposition to the judges' picks. All this excitement and more is coming up soon. For now, sit back and watch a preview of the action to come.
