A group of skiers took an early-season trip touring and skiing around Valhalla Mountain Touring in the Kootenay Region of British Columbia.

Valhalla Touring is located a few hours north of the town of Nelson, British Columbia, in the Selkirk Mountain Range.

The crew on the trip was photographer Garrett Grove, skiers Forrest Coots and Caroline Gleich, and snowboarder Liz Daley. One of those lucky skiers gets a face shot here.

"We all are in agreement that if the world has ended and we are the last people on Earth, this is the place to spend eternity in," says skier Forrest Coots, shown here.

Valahalla Mountain Touring was established in 1998. It's a ski touring backcountry lodge, with 25 square miles of ski terrain accessed by foot from the front door.

The timber lodge has six bedrooms, wireless internet, and a wood-fired sauna.

While they were there, the snow continued to fall, covering up the tracks from the day before.

Endless pillow lines were accessible right from the lodge.

Not a bad trip for skier Forrest Coots: "We spend our days shredding waist-deep powder, and our evenings relaxing in wood-fired saunas and resting in the lodge'’s big leather chairs," he says.
