X Games Munich delivered another round of progressive skate action in Street League, Park, Vert and Big Air. The Skateboard Park contest pitted four-time gold medalist Pedro Barros against flow-master Curren Caples. Barros tallied a score that inched pass Caples on his final run, but Caples ended the competition with a score of 43 that put him on top of the podium.
Though Pedro Barros skated the Park course with speed and power, his streak of gold medals ended with silver at X Games Munich.
After four rounds of 16 videos, it was veteran pro Guy Mariano who earned a much deserved X Games Munich Real Street gold medal. Meanwhile, David Gravette took home the fan favorite award in Real Street.
At X Games Munich, Bob Burnquist earned his 25th medal, passing Dave Mirra for the most in X history. His win in Big Air was also his fifth gold in a row. Near the end of the competition, Bunquist landed a switch 540 ollie over the gap, another X Games first in Skate Big Air.
Elliot Sloan spun his way to a silver medal in Big Air with a solid tail grab 720 over the gap and a huge Christ air on the quarter pipe. It was Sloan's best placing to date in Skate Big Air.
After placing first at X Games Street League Select Series in Foz do Iguau and Barcelona, Manny Santiago missed the cut in Munich. But because of his consistency earlier in the year, he will be a likely candidate on the 2014 Street League Skateboarding tour.
A Street League veteran and crowd favorite, Torey Pudwill advanced to the finals of Street League at X Games on Sunday with long backside tailslides and picture-perfect backside 360 ollies during the Impact section. Pudwill placed fifth in the finals.
Chris Cole won his first Street League and fourth gold medal at X Games by besting Paul Rodriguez on his final run. Cole ended the competition with a picture perfect 360 flip 50-50 grind down the Hubba ledge.
Tony Hawk & Andy Macdonald
Between the two of them, Tony Hawk and Andy Macdonald have six gold medals in X Games Vert Doubles, so when Hawk throws a vert demo at the X Games, who's he going to call? Andy Mac. To date this year, Hawk and friends have performed vert demos at three X Games events.
Bucky Lasek three-peated for gold in Skate Vert at X Games Munich. Despite also competing in RallyCross, he shows no signs of slowing down, even at age 40.
