We present to you a selection of a few our favorites from 'A Life in Transition.'
Lien grab, 2006, New Orleans, La: "The right place at the right time. A melted building foundation on the Mississippi River which was the direct result of Hurricane Katrina. I believe the river ate three of Brent's boards that day."
"This portrait was taken by one of my best editors and friend, Jaime Owens, while I was working on a shoot in Los Angeles."
Nick Garcia, 2012, Tokyo, Japan: "This flight to Japan left me feeling particularly groggy, so Nick's playfulness was a much needed mood lifter. Legless ollie, straight off the plane."
Levi Brown, 2012, Nagasaki, Japan: "Every trip has a theme; one silly idea or game that keeps us all sane while on the road for long spells. Flagging kept us all cheery when spirits got low and Japan started getting the better of us."
Nick Garcia, 2010, Orcas Island, Washington: "For some people, a picture of a pond, or a mountain top, or a Buddha is what soothes and relaxes them. A picture like this does the job for me: a tranquil moment on a hectic catalog shoot."
Dominick Walker, backside Smith grind, 2013, Seattle, Wash: "On another catalog shoot in Seattle, Dominick Walker had to sweet talk a whole congregation of hobos and junkies into moving off of this spot so he could skate it."
Levi Brown, nollie front noseslide transfer, 2011, Gijon, Spain: "I've never been so happy to see someone ride away from a trick. Levi was struggling with this one and I couldn't bare the thought of not being able to use it. He fought the good fight and I think it was worth it."
Levi Brown, wandering, 2011, A Coruna, Spain: "A lot of people probably don't know what a daydreamer Levi is, and how he can get lost in his own little universe sometimes. The way the hole in the rock perfectly separated him from his surroundings represented that to me."
Levi Brown, backside 180 heelflip, 2011, Valporaiso, Chile: "They call this town the 'San Francisco of Chile' with good reason. The second Levi rolled away, he picked up speed like he had a rocket engine strapped to his board."
Ricki Bedenbaugh, 2009, Albuquerque, New Mexico: "I could have sat in this drainpipe all day, just watching the shapes change. This is Ricki retrieving his board after he lost control and it shot all the way to down to me."
Julian Davidson, scorpion, 2011, Santiago, Chile: "I was bored at this spot in Chile because it was really only good for people to film lines at. I'm not sure why I even had my camera out, but mid-sentence, I suppose out of reflex, I put the camera to my eye in time to catch Julian in a world of hurt."
