A private bowl, ramp or street park in the backyard is every skateboarders dream. Recently that dream became a reality for Powell Peralta's Jordan Hoffart. I've known Hoffart for a couple of years now, and a little over six months ago he told me about his new house in Vista, Calif. and the plans he had for it. At first it was going to be some wood ramps and some other DIY type stuff. Then after discussing it with friend, Kyle Berard, they came up with a whole new plan. They decided to give it a shot and do it proper by building a bowl. After months of lining up schedules and the help of friends Chad Bartie, Pat Duffy, Rob Welsh and many others, it all came together better then could be imagined. In the front yard are some small, fun, 2 foot quarter-pipes and a volcano with a palm tree in the middle. Then off to the backyard, you'll find a three level yard with the bottom having the perfect 5' cornered bowl with a 7' clamshell on one end. I happened to be in the area for the first official session and sat down with Hoffart to talk about the bowl, the people involved and what it took to make this all happen.
