    Now hear this

Gentlemans Pistols rocking out at The Loop Bar in Tignes Le Lac, France -- one of many acts you just might catch during X Games Tignes.

The French Alps are home to the true après-ski vibe -- something that just isn't complete without live music. (For some, the après is just as important to their ski holiday as the skiing itself.) Virtually every bar in Tignes provides some sort of entertainment every night, and deciding just which acts to take in can be a tough choice. With X Games in full swing this week, we've got the lowdown on the best places to take in the finest musicians around Tignes.

Cover bands are two a penny in this region, but The Cheerleaders break the mold. Instead of your typical overweight middle-aged fellas, these guys are a young band of good-looking rock 'n' rollers with a repertoire of edgy guitar-based songs spanning everything from the Rolling Stones to the music of today. The Cheerleaders take to the stage at après haven The Loop Bar in Le Lac every Wednesday once the lifts stop spinning and churn out solid tunes for a good couple of hours. These guys have been in Tignes for four years now and know how to put on a good show.

Taking a wander down to Scotty's in Lavachet on a Sunday night, post-roast dinner, to click your finger and get a groove on to DJ Lindo's soul sessions is the highlight of anybody's week. DJ Lindo rocks out his classic beats at 10 o'clock every Sunday and provides the perfect chilled atmosphere -- which can sometimes change dramatically depending on just what kind of mood this cat's in. If funky soul music is your thing, you're going to love DJ Lindo.

You.Me.Them are a well-dressed young duo specializing in sing-along songs with an adoring twist. Expect catchy riffs and voices like angels from these two lads, playing all the classics mixed in with a fresh selection of their own tunes too. They're busy boys around Tignes, but the highlight of their schedule is their gig at the newly opened Underground Bar in Le Lac, every Thursday at après time. While taking in their music, be sure to have a chat with bar man Wogga -- a man guaranteed to make you laugh.

Paul Weller, The Jam, Stereophonics: If those five words get you excited, be sure to check out indie guitar guys Paper Planes. With one looking and sounding something similar to Plan B and his campadre being a dead ringer for Paul Weller, this is another Tignes après treat. Headlining in the window at The Marmot Arms in Le Lac every Tuesday, Paper Planes gets the party started with quintessential indie-rock songs played in a very cool style. On a side note, the Marmot Arms has a downstairs area named The Burrow. Few gigs have been played in there, but when they do, things go off!

DJ Kommissar has a record collection broader than the Atlantic and has some magical fingers on the turntables. With a set list spanning from funk, soul, beats and breaks right the way through to hip-hop, dub step and drum 'n' bass, this DJ has something for every occasion. The combination of his talent and sheer energy makes for quite the spectacle. Kommissar's the resident DJ at The Loop Bar and can be found there for après and nighttime sets throughout the week. If the sun's out, don't be surprised to see the boys at The Loop shuffle things around and put Kommissar out on their south-facing sun terrace.

Tom GreenhillJett Black gets some goat horns at the Loop Bar at X Games Tignes past.

Rocco The Italian Stallion is never shy about picking up his electric guitar and shredding out some fine classic rock 'n' roll riffs. Rocco is the proprietor of his venue, the Jam Bar, which provides the perfect intimate setting for his finger-picking. Rocco's likely to bring the guitar out at any moment, and in between bites of his spectacular spaghetti you'll enjoy getting lost in his never-ending solos. If you take in your own guitar, Rocco will be more than happy to sit down and jam it out with you.

So there you have it: your full guide to Tignes' music scene. Additionally, special to the event, X Games has its own stage at the venue; this year, Skullcandy is providing their best DJs for entertainment throughout the week. There's also the dalikfodda night with Steak at The Loop Bar on Thursday, Mar. 21. Enjoy!
