The latest collaboration between Converse and Missoni has debuted on the fashion house's autumn/winter men's runway in Milan, Italy.

The two renowned brands have an ongoing partnership that is part of "Converse First String," an ongoing product capsule that highlights craftsmanship, product details and high-profile collaborations. In previous seasons Missoni has applied their iconic knits to Converse's Chuck Taylor and Auckland Racer styles. For this latest installment, the Jack Purcell model is getting an upgrade.

The Jack Purcell was introduced into the Converse line more than 75 years ago and its style cues have made the low-top vulcanized sneaker a popular and timeless classic. This updated incarnation features Missoni's signature zigzag-patterned jacquard knit with a premium suede midsole wrap and details. The subtle tonal white, gray and silver fabric is inspired by Missoni's upcoming menswear collection.

Converse, which began in 1908, manufactured the first U.S.-made basketball shoe, the Chuck Taylor All Star, and in the past five years they've launched the skate segment of their brand. The Chuck Taylor and Jack Purcell models have been a staple for hipsters, artists and musicians and are the perfect canvas for Missoni's kaleidoscopic palette.

Missoni has an equally rich history. Prior to launching the brand in 1953, the company's founder made wool tracksuits, which were a hit with the Italian track team and were used in the 1948 Olympics. Since the millennium, the three Missoni siblings have run the company. They have propelled the brand to a wider audience through savvy collaborations and a huge celebrity following.

The Converse x Missoni collaboration was initially sold exclusively through coveted French retailer Colette. In the past few years, however, the goods have been made available through select retailers around the world. Although they've already hit the runway, this latest footwear offering will not be in stores until fall 2013.
