Carlos Sainz is the only Spanish driver to win a World Rally Championship title, and he did it twice (1990 and 1992).
X Games rookie
Carlos Sainz's last World Rally Championship race was in 2005, and he has never raced rallycross.
Besides his WRC prowess, Carlos Sainz has won the Race of Champions in 1997 and the Dakar Rally in 2010.
Carlos Sainz will be one of two drivers piloting Volkswagen Polos at X Games Barcelona. The other is Swedish rallycross driver Anton Marklund.
Carlos Sainz's other passion is ftbol. Real Madrid gave him a trial when he was a teenager, and he's still a huge fan of the team. After winning the Dakar Rally in 2010, Sainz got to kick off for a match between Real Madrid and Malaga.
