On August 15, 2014, The City of Austin, Texas and Mayor Lee Leffingwell recognized X Games Austin BMX Park gold medalist Chase Hawk for his achievements in BMX in the past and present. To mark the recognition, the mayor proclaimed Saturday, August 16 as Chase Hawk Day in Austin.

Be it known that...
This is the proclamation handed to Hawk by the mayor of Austin, Texas. This may be the first time in BMX history that a BMX pro's name was bestowed on a city in recognition of his achievements.

The presentation, held at Austin Land and Cattle Restaurant, was attended by Austin City Council member Mike Martinez (left), who presented the actual plaque to Chase.
