      Daniel Dhers' Specialized P20

X Games BMX Park four-time gold medalist Daniel Dhers turned heads last year when he signed on with Morgan Hill, Calif. brand Specialized. Known for high-end road and mountain bikes, Specialized has sponsored such legendary BMX pros as T.J. Lavin in the past. And with Dhers, they've opened a new BMX chapter. This is Dhers' latest bike.

      New paint job

"Here's my Specialized P20, I just got this custom 'Blue Jean' paint job and I love it," said Daniel from his adopted home in Greenville, N.C. (Daniel originally hails from Caracas, Venezuela.)

      Upsweep

Daniel prefers a good deal of upsweep on his handlebars. "These bars have 6 degrees of upsweep. They feel great for tailwhips and stuff. I can't run 0 or 1 degree upsweep bars, they feel like they are always bent to me," says Daniel.

      Seating

34R is a relatively new component brand based in the Czech Republic, and Daniel gets the occasional hook up from them. "I got a few parts from 34R and I love this seat, it's small yet grippy enough for barspins and seat grab tricks," says Daniel.

      Profile Elite hubs

Weight is a constant concern on Daniel's bike, and it shows in the details. "I got Profile Elite hubs with titanium spokes, a titanium driver and a titanium bolt for the non-peg side. These hubs feel amazing with the instant engagement, plus it sounds pretty cool too! Another thing I love is how the dropouts are welded to the frame," says Daniel.

      Drivetrain

"I'm running 170mm Profile cranks because they simply feel amazing for barspins. I also just switched from a 25-tooth to a 28-tooth Tree sprocket. It felt crazy at the beginning but 28-9 gearing gives you some good pedaling power for those intimidating gaps," says Daniel.

      Pedals

The attention to detail carries over into Daniel's pedals. "I took the pins out of these pedals because they were too grippy, I also run metal just because I hate switching plastic pedals all the time," says Daniel.

      Fly brakes

If you've ever seen Daniel ride in person, then you know from the sound of his brakes that they stop on a dime, courtesy of Fly Bikes. "What I love from these Fly brakes is the simplicity of them -- the cable hanger adjuster is a very nice touch," says Daniel.

      34R Stem

"I switched to this top loader 34R stem and it feels awesome, I used to have a front loader flipped upside down but this one just makes the bike look a lot better," says Daniel.

      Brake lever

Fly Bikes is one of the few BMX brands pushing brake technology on all levels. Daniel agrees. "I love this Fly lever. I ground the little knob down and it gave it the perfect length and feel. I can't remember why but I run a white Mirraco grip on this side for some reason," he added.

      Rims, tires

Rotational weight is a big deal for Daniel. "I try to run the lightest stuff and this Alienation Deviant rim in the front is not only the lightest, but it's also very strong too. I'm running KHE's Mac 2 Park tire in the front as well," says Daniel.
    • 12null

      Forks

Not afraid to try new things, Daniel is experimenting with Demolition forks. "I just got these Demolition Elite forks -- they have a perfect 30 degree offset and are the lightest forks in the business."
    • 13null

      Rear wheel

"I'm running an Alienation Runaway rim and KHE Mac 1.5 park tire in the back," says Daniel.
    • 14null

      Front hub

"This is a sweet 34R Moto peg," says Daniel, who is a stickler for weight on his front hub. "I run female axles, the only difference being is it's titanium on the non-peg side and chromoly on the peg side."
