Trey Jones' Stone Cold setup
Trey Jones' Cult Stone Cold setup
Cult and Shadow Conspiracy pro Trey Jones recently spent a week at Woodward Camp for "Cult Week," and decided to give XGames.com an inside look at his latest setup. Jones was given his own version of a signature frame from Cult earlier this year, and he's currently riding that frame, the Stone Cold, in a 21-inch top tube version.
Cult Stone Cold frame
Jones' signature Cult frame features straight gauge 4130 chromoly, welded on grind plates on the chain stays (similar to Garrett Byrnes' signature T-1 frame from back in the day), no paint, custom stickers and a rather unique 75.4 degree head tube angle.
Shadow Ravager pedals
"I'm riding the Shadow Ravager pedals and they're ripping," says Jones. "I replace the pins in them quite a bit from pedal grinds and the way they are designed, where you can take the pins out through the back, is perfect."
Shadow BTR cassette hub
"The Shadow BTR hub is awesome. It's the best hub I've ever ridden, and I've never had a problem with it," says Jones. The hub is made of 6061 hardened aluminum with two oversized bearings for added strength and a longer lasting rolling life. It includes a one-piece, 9t chromoly driver with polymer bushings and is available with 36 holes in left- or right-hand drive.
Stone Cold graphics
Let's call this "un-attention to detail," in regards to sticker placement. "I love every single thing about my frame," says Jones. "I can't complain about anything. It's not so easy on the eyes for some, but for me it's the definition of perfection."
Shadow Ravager stem
"I'm riding the Shadow Ravager stem and it's exactly what I want in a stem. It's got a dialed classic look that's nice and wide," says Jones.
Shadow Raptor hub
The Shadow Conspiracy features a variety of parts named after dinosaurs featured in the Steven Spielberg film "Jurassic Park," including the Raptor front hub seen on Trey Jones' bike.
Shadow 138 grips
"I'm running my signature bars from Cult and grips from Shadow and I couldn't be happier with both. I went to Shadow and Cult with both these ideas and they were down 100 percent and made them happen. My bars are 8.7 incehs tall and 29.25 inches wide. I wanted a soft-but-thin flangeless grip from shadow and that's exactly what I got," says Jones.
Penumbra Solus Mid Jones 3
"I went to Shadow with this idea of doing a black leather seat with a front and back camo wrap with a hunter orange tag and that's what they made! I was so psyched that I ride for two awesome companies that made my ideas come to life like this seat. It should be available soon," says Jones.
Shadow Valor tires
"The Shadow Valor tires are awesome. They are super sick on anything from curved walls to the trails," says Jones.
Shadow Killer cranks
"I'm riding my second sample pair of my new signature Killer cranks from Shadow. They machine tested stronger than any other cranks out right now and they are perfect for crank arm grinds. These cranks have given me no trouble and I know that no one else on Shadow has had a problem with them. I'm also riding a 30-tooth Shadow Align sprocket in the front and nine-tooth Shadow BTR hub in the back, so my gear ratio is really tough, which is radical," says Jones.
Sponsor shout outs
"I couldn't be any happier with my bike right now, all thanks to Cult and Shadow. They make sure that I'm more than happy with every part on my bike. There's not a single part I would change. Not to mention, everyone is like family. I've known Ronnie [Bonner] and Robbie [Morales] for most of my life. I can't thank those two guys enough for everything," says Jones.
