Peraza, Churchill win Simple Session 13

    By Brian Tunney

    Published Monday March 18, 2013

Simple Session 13 BMX Park top three from left to right: Harry Main (third place), Kevin Peraza (first place), Michael Beran (second place).

    Simple Session

Upcoming BMX Park pro Kevin Peraza was crowned the winner of the 2013 Simple Session 13 contest in Tallinn, Estonia, besting KHE Bikes rider Michael Beran (second place) and Failure Bikes pro Harry Main (third place) in the BMX Park finals on Sunday. Rounding out the top five in the finals was X Games BMX Park pros Daniel Sandoval in fourth place and Kyle Baldock in fifth place.

Simple Session is one of the few large scale BMX competitions which evenly allows for BMX Park and BMX Street pros to compete on the same course, creating a unique mixture of finalists that ranged from the top five finalists (that favored Park riding) to street riders such as Devon Smillie, Bruno Hoffmann and Stevie Churchill.

Simple SessionSimple Session takes on the Harlem Shake.

In the Failure BMX "Ride The Lightning" Street Best Trick category, Federal's Stevie Churchill took top honors with a 360 to feeble grind, followed by Cult pro Trey Jones in second place (sprocket nose 360) and Premium's Dan Foley in third place (180 gap backwards manual).

Simple Session 13 is also one of the only large scale BMX contests to feature a women's BMX class. With a field of 11 international competitors, Chile's Camila Harambour was crowned champion for a second year in a row, followed by U.S. rider Angie Marino in second place and U.K. rider Georgia Wheaty.

A total of 104 international BMX riders descended on Tallinn, Estonia for the 13th edition of Simple Session.
