In September of 2012, I was part of a Tree Bicycles trip that began at Derek Nelson's Post-Apocolympic contest outside of Binghamton, N.Y. This is a set of trails that transported us back to the '90s because of the smaller jumps with rough weedy-edges and long straight lines.

Winning one of his own contests, Tree's Derek Nelson declined to accept the purse money. Instead the cash was to be distributed to the crowd from a balcony above the indoor skatepark. There was little shame observed in the pursuit of quick money.

Joel Barnett was king of the boost to fakie on the pizza slice -- one of many Derek Nelson original ramp creations found at HCS Skatepark.

      Kelly Baker, different drum

      Brian Yeagle

Kelly Baker had his own contest the day of the Derek's Post-Apocolympics, to grind an up-rail and launch over a wheelbarrow. Three or four attempts were made and the results were consistent.

      Binghamton trails

Near Binghamton we visited some trails, and John Lee and Chris Hancock were both present, ripping on them as well.

By day, he sells bikes at FBM. And on nights and the weekends, he rides them very well.

      Nathan Parker

      Brian Yeagle

Nathan Parker and I empathized with each other over protracted knee problems. Despite filming and photography being rewarding creative processes, they at times can't compete with the experience of riding, especially when your mates are cruising all around you.

Sam Schulte put some time in on this one, both to simply pull it and then to pull it how he envisioned the ideal. Air to wallride to smooth reentry.

      Taughannock Falls

      Brian Yeagle

Taughannock Falls at Cayuga Lake, N.Y. A thunderstorm began as we started the hike up the valley of the falls to reach its pool. The rain and lightning continued, yet we remained and had ourselves a chilly swim under the falls.

In September 2012, I was part of a Tree Bicycles trip that began at Derek Nelson's Post-Apocolympic contest outside of Binghamton, N.Y. The crew was Sam Schulte, Nathan Parker, Bobbie Altiser, Justin Brayton, Clint Reynolds, Alex Magallan and myself. From HCS our route took us through Syracuse, Rochester and then Ithaca. We visited one set of trails, a few parks, two apartments and of course the urban environments of those cities mentioned. There are many ways to speak of the trip, but I chose to leave that to the photos. Check the gallery for the documentation of our travels.
