In 2006, Fit Bike Co. pro Van Homan opened a small BMX shop and online store in his hometown of Pennsville, N.J. Known as Two by Four, the shop's main goal was simple: have fun, give back to BMX and support the local scene along the way. According to Homan, "We began that mission by providing a place where riders could come to not only find the latest and greatest in BMX parts, clothing and accessories but also a place they could come mid-session to take in a video or catch a couple laughs."

Soon, his small grassroots approach to scene building grew to include shop stops by visiting teams, poker tournaments, a Brian Wizmerski look-a-like tournament, a team video and an evolving local scene full of new riders. Homan attempted to expand Two by Four into the Philadelphia area, opening a second shop, but ultimately scaled back to focus his efforts on the home base.

Now, six years later, with a renewed perspective on what direction to take in life, Van Homan has decided to close Two by Four. In the above video, Homan explains his motivations behind the decision to close the shop. Video by Stew Johnson.
