Dungey wins AMA Supercross round 5 at Anaheim
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Ryan Dungey earned his first Supercross win of the season on Saturday night, and fellow KTM rider Ken Roczen raced to his second consecutive victory in the 250SX class.
Dungey became the fourth different winner in five races this season and moved into second place in the season standings. Davi Millsaps finished second and holds a 14-point lead over Dungey. Justin Barcia, who did not finish the last two races, grabbed third.
"We felt some emotion coming into tonight's race after barely making it into the Main Event," Dungey said. "The team was sweating it, but we pulled it off. It's a long season and this is a big step for the team."
Roczen quickly moved into the lead on the opening lap in front of a crowd of 41,294 at Angel Stadium. Martin Davalos was second and Eli Tomac finished third.
Roczen extended his series lead to 20 points over Tomac.
"I need to keep this up and take it to the next level," Roczen said. "This has been a great two races for me, but the season is not over yet, so I need to keep the pressure on as we head to San Diego next week."
