ESPN's X Games is in search of a future home in North America for both its winter and summer events.

As the contracts with AEG in Los Angeles, Calif., and Aspen Skiing Company in Aspen, Colo., are set to expire in 2013 and 2014, respectively, X Games organizers are currently accepting bids from potential host cities in North America (www.bidxgames.com).

Organizers are in search of three-year contracts for a home for the 2014-16 Summer X Games and for the 2015-17 Winter X Games. Organizers said in a statement that they are also open to a single site hosting both events.

"The X Games has experienced tremendous growth over the past decade, in large part due to the tremendous partnerships we have enjoyed in L.A. and Aspen," said Scott Guglielmino, senior vice president, programming and X Games, in a press release. "As we embark on a year of unprecedented global expansion for the X Games in 2013, now is the perfect time to explore potential sites in North America for future X Games events."

In May, ESPN announced it would be expanding the X Games into a global market, adding the 2013 summer events in Foz Do Iguaçu, Brazil (April 18-21), Barcelona, Spain (May 16-19), and Munich, Germany (June 27-30), on top of X Games Los Angeles (August 1-4). The 2013 winter events will be held in Tignes, France (March 20-22), and Aspen (January 24-27).

As a complement to the competitive aspects of all six events, there will be music, style and film elements brought on site in each market, with live concerts and film showcases, among other activities.

X Games Barcelona was originally scheduled May 9-12, but a conflict with the Barcelona F1 Race caused event organizers to move it back a week.

AEG and the X Games began their relationship in in 2003 as AEG was building out the sports and entertainment zone called L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles. Among its many properties, AEG owns Staples Center and the L.A. Kings and is behind an effort to build a football stadium and bring the NFL back to L.A. In addition, AEG is currently up for sale. Aspen has hosted X Games every year since 2002.
