To coincide with the beginning of Interbike 2012 in Las Vegas, Nev. today, Kink Bikes and Garrett Reynolds' own Deadline crew have released trailers for their upcoming videos, and both build anticipation for next year's 2013 NORA Cup Video of the Year award. To start with, Kink Bikes is getting an early jump on their Spring 2013 release of "Squash It," filmed and edited by Kink team rider Darryl Tocco. Tocco's filming and editing style is completely pro, with no wacky effects and the added knowledge of how to properly document the team's riding. The new video was filmed in the UK, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Vancouver, Montreal, and throughout the United States, and features riding from the full Kink team, plus flow riders and Kink family.
As for Deadline, from what I can gather, this video could be perhaps the longest-running in production video in BMX ever. Without asking Deadline ringmaster Garrett Reynolds, we're going to estimate that the idea for a video entitled "Deadline" first started in 2005-2006, and over those past 6-7 years, the Deadline crew has moved across the country and continued to gather footage outside of their usual video obligations to sponsors.
The full-length video, now scheduled for a fall 2012 release, will feature Garrett Reynolds, Ty Morrow, Steve-O Croteau, Augie Simoncini, Colin Varanyak, JJ Palmere and Kevin Kiraly. The trailer, released last night, features the soothing sounds of Harry Belafonte's "Banana Boat Song" coupled with some of the most progressive and burly street riding to see the light of day thus far in BMX. Check the trailer here and look for the full-length video within the next 2-3 months.
