    Honda's Tommy Hahn injured

    By B.J. Smith

    Published Sunday August 19, 2012

American HondaHonda's Tommy Hahn was injured in Texas yesterday, his third of the year. He will miss the rest of the 2012 season.

Tommy Hahn suffered another setback on Thursday morning when he crashed while training at His 956 Facility in Bridgeport, Texas. Hahn was airlifted to Metroplex hospital where he was treated for a dislocated shoulder and a broken T3 vertebra. He was released late on Thursday night and is home in Decatur, Texas.

"I feel like I got hit by a train," Hahn said via phone. "I came into a corner standing up, lost traction in the rear end, went over the bars and landed head first." Hahn said the crash was at a high speed and that the bike struck him in the back of the shoulder. On Monday he is going to visit a specialist and he said he will definitely be missing the rest of the season with a recovery time of two to three months.

Hahn, who was called up to the Muscle Milk Honda team for the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship to fill in for the injured Trey Canard, was training for the Red Bull Unadilla National on Saturday in New Berlin, N.Y. Hahn finished third in the opening moto at Southwick last weekend, his best in an injury-filled season. In early June Hahn broke a finger in Colorado. At the Phoenix Supercross in January, Hahn broke his leg and missed the rest of the Monster Energy Supercross season.

"It's getting tougher and tougher," Hahn said. "I don't know what I've been doing wrong. Maybe God has a plan for me but whatever the reason may be I'm just going to keep trying. Hopefully people see how hard I was working before. If I'm not able to put something together for next year I might not be racing professionally anymore. What we risk to ride for free just doesn't make sense to me."

Hahn, 26, was riding as a privateer in Supercross. When he was called up to Muscle Milk Honda it was his second time on the team. He first rode for Honda in 2007. In 2009 Hahn won the Steel City National in the 450 class on a privateer Kawasaki, his only major race win. He currently is not signed with a team for 2013.
