The following are eleven basic tricks every beginning flatlander should learn. These tricks will lay a solid foundation, allowing more options of intermediate tricks, and opening the door for basic combos. Although they do not need to be learned in any particular order, I believe that learning all of them will give a new rider a well-rounded basic control of the bike.
Riding with more advanced riders than yourself will help you progress more quickly. If you ride alone there are many how-to's of these tricks online that will give you a better idea of how the mechanics work. Also asking other riders for tips in person or via email can help with your progression. I know that I am always willing to help other riders out; don't be afraid to ask, you will be surprised how many other pros are willing to help too!
