Imagine 20,000-plus kids in a candy store. Now imagine that those kids are all skiers and snowboarders and the candy is all of next year's most techy and stylish winter gear. That's basically what the Snowsports Industries America (SIA) trade show is. The SIA trade show ended Sunday in Denver, Colo., with an on-snow demo taking place at Winter Park, Colo., on Monday and Tuesday.
Eager buyers and even more eager vendors flooded the exhibit hall ready to wheel and deal on 2013 gear. K2's life size barn, Subaru's chair lift booth, and Oakley's two-story mecca of goggles and outerwear towered over their neighbors and managed to even steal the thunder of Glen Plake's mohawk. From multi-cambered skis and snowboards, to avalanche airbags, to socks made from recycled materials, to Recon's technology-based goggles, you'd be hard pressed not to find something impressive on the thousands of racks and shelves at SIA.
