At 5 a.m., I was driving an RV through heavy rain in the dark of northern Idaho. Our destination: Revelstoke, BC, where the Freeskiing World Tour and Freeride World Tour is hosting their first North American stop of the season this weekend.
FWT competitor Tom Runcie and I left Crested Butte, Colo., in an RV and drove straight through the night to meet up with fellow competitor Caleb Mullen in Sand Point, Idaho. Then we picked up Moment team member Louise Lintilhac and her camera-wielding fiancee Dana Allen at the Kelowna, BC, airport before hitting our first resort on a skiing tour of BC's powder belt. Along the way we hoped to meet up with several other FWT competitors who could show us around their home turf in interior BC.
We spent the next four days skiing at Whitewater, Fernie, and Kicking Horse, all while based out of our mobile slopeside lodge that we called the Ski RV.
Now we've arrived in Revelstoke, where qualifiers for the contest begin on Thursday. Stay tuned to ESPN Freeskiing for full coverage of the Revelstoke FWT stop.
