All things come to an end at some point. After over three and a half years building the ESPN Skateboarding section and working on ESPN Action Sports, it's time for me to push on down some new roads. It's been fun taking this site and this particular section dedicated to skateboarding in a more serious, respected and higher-quality direction. What began as a tiny blog for then "EXPN," is now a legitimate entity producing high level skateboarding content on the daily. I'm happy to have been a part of it. Now it's time for something new. ESPN will keep chugging along without me I'm sure. I'll bet there will be some good stuff ahead with quality people like Andrew Cannon, Mike Sinclair and Chris Nieratko still involved in the site.
As for me, if you're a skateboarder, you'll see me around. Skating was my first love and, 20-plus years later, I remain hopelessly faithful.
In the 1960s the author Ken Kesey and his pal, Jack Kerouac's muse, Neal Cassady drove around the country in a bus getting into mischief with their crew, "The Merry Pranksters." On the front of that bus, painted just above the windows, was one word that I like: "Further." For skateboarders and explorers of all kinds, that word has got some weight. I'll see you out there.
