It ain't easy to get Gavin Beschen to say much, but give the man a machete and a coconut and he opens right up. Living in Hawaii for the better part of 10 years now, Beschen epitomizes the "free surf" life: paddle out when it's on, get barreled when you can, and "skate or walk the dogs" or find something to monkey around with if the ocean's not doing it.
