As we set out on snowboarding photo shoots to any given urban environment between the months of December and February, our first duty is picking up the rental cars. The ideal vehicles are pick-up trucks, mini-vans or a large size SUV -- aka "Rail Cars." The term Rail Car is pulled from our pursuit in finding 'hand rails' to snowboard on, document and publish.
We prefer the pick-up truck for transporting the winch, generator, shovels, blowtorch, drop-in ramp and snowboards -- keeping the gasoline powered equipment and snow moving items in the open air. The mini-van or SUV works well for housing all of the camera gear, flashes and lights. Delicate items stay protected in these climate-controlled confines.
The Rail Car becomes our mobile home during the long, cold days and nights searching for spots, preparing locations, filming and cleaning up. We eat, hang out and stay warm in these vehicles, a life support system for working in the non-mountain environments.
The winch and the drop-in ramp generate speed for the rider to perform his maneuver on the obstacle; the generator powers the lights for night sessions, while the shovels and blowtorch prep any given feature. Cameras, lenses and flashes, along with the photographer bring you the images you see here.Enjoy. Launch Gallery »
