Norway's Andre Villa has undoubtedly put himself in a position to take Nate Adams' crown and quite possibly be recognized as the best FMX competitor in 2011 and beyond. With an injury-plagued last few years, Villa has had a hard time putting the puzzle pieces together, but if he can keep the ball rolling from his more-than-stellar performance at Red Bull X-Fighters in Dubai, he'll be unstoppable.
Noticing his heart, drive and talent, DC Shoes has added Villa to their elite moto team where he will join fellow FMX riders Nate Adams, Robbie Maddison, Charles Pages and Travis Pastrana.
"In a relatively short time André has become one of motocross' elite athletes," said Brian Cassaro, DC's Action Sports Marketing Director. "His success is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport. Our moto category mantra has become "Refuse to Lose" and André embodies that mindset 110 percent."
Previously sponsored by competing footwear company etnies, Villa is excited to have found a new home and be part of Action Sports' most iconic brand. "I am excited to be part of such a great team that dominates freestyle motocross," said Andre "Signing with DC is a milestone in my career, and I will style the sickest kicks in the industry with pride."
Villa placed second behind Spain's Dany Torres in the first round of the 2011 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour in Dubai and currently sits in second place in the championship points standings.
