After five years with Dave Mirra's bike brand Mirraco, team rider and ESPN BMX contributor has parted ways with Mirraco to ride for Australia's Colony Bikes. "Colony BMX is the largest brand in Australia and I want to help them get their name out in America," said Guettler. "I just want to thank Mirraco for all the support," he added.
Guettler was one of the first riders signed to Mirraco when Dave Mirra launched the brand in 2006. "Ryan has been a huge part of Mirraco since the beginning and has done an amazing job representing the brand," said Mirra. "As an athlete, I will always respect and support a riders decision to explore new opportunities," he added. While on Mirraco, Guettler endorsed a signature frame and line of complete bikes known as the Black Pearl.
Since Colony's beginnings as a BMX brand several years ago, Guettler has been sponsored by the brand for components, and has been listed on the Colony pro team roster for the past three years. To date, Guettler has signature handlebars, forks, sprocket and stem from Colony. Guettler has also credited Colony owner Clint Millar for pushing him to progress at riding when he began.
Guettler originally transplanted himself from Beenleigh, Australia to the U.S. to compete at the pro level in 2003, and in his rookie season, made Dew Tour history by taking the year-end Dew Cup in both BMX park and dirt. After several successful years on the competition circuit, Guettler underwent double shoulder surgery in August of this year, and has been sidelined since late summer during recovery.
Guettler's current sponsors include Colony, Vans, Pro-Tec, Monster Energy, Alpinestars, Skullcandy and Kicker.
"On behalf of Mirraco, we want to wish Ryan the best of luck and a fresh start to a brand new journey," Mirra added.
