Was that October brutal or what?
After a month like that, you wonder why even bother on the East Coast. Why not buy a plane ticket somewhere -- somewhere consistent, somewhere warm, somewhere that you can feel content with the fact that you've sacrificed so much to be "on it" because there's something to be on. Why not just move?
But then something like this happens to change your mind. One rogue storm develops out in the ocean to the south and sends a few days of ballistic surf. Then a monster retrograding low pressure system gets blocked by a high pressure and just lumbers out in the North Atlantic for days. This storm actually moved south, which runs counter to almost all logic in this hemisphere, blessing the whole coast with waves. And suddenly, you're not thinking about a trip or a new job in Orange County. You can't think about anything actually, other than where's that pintail you haven't used since Hurricane Igor.
And if that's doesn't remind you of just how good it was, here's Mikey Ciaramella with a barrel that might look like backdoor if it weren't for the rubber, shot by Alex DePhillipo.
Take a good, hard look at these. Who were you kidding? This is your home. You aint' going nowhere.
