Last spring, photographer Jay Beyer left his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, and drove south, toward the desert, in search of snow. The southern part of the state rarely receives enough snow to ski, but a fluke storm convinced him, as well as skiers Noah and Jonah Howell, that they might be able to find some powder turns.

The result? A shot that landed on the not-exactly-controversial November 2010 cover of Powder Magazine. And a sweet YouTube clip.
