Jamie Bestwick continued on his path of Dew Tour vert domination at the Salt Lake City stop of the 2010 Dew Tour, claiming first place over Chad Kagy (second) and Chile's Coco Zurita (third.) Tonight's win marks his third consecutive victory of the 2010 season and his ninth straight win, spanning back to 2008. Bestwick's winning streak puts him in position to obtain a perfect season for the second year in a row heading into the Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas next month.
"The contest was so tight; the lead kept swapping every run, and that to me is so exciting," said Bestwick. "Kagy was firing, Simon, Coco and Stevie were firing and it just lent itself to an awesome final. I think this has been one of the best finals I've done in the history of the Dew Tour."
Due to a new format similar to X Games (finals to super finals), Bestwick had to battle Kagy, Zurita, Simon Tabron and Steve McCann for the top spot. In the end, he prevailed, but the remaining riders didn't allow him an easy victory. Highlights of the the night included a 540 ET air from Simon Tabron, triple tailwhips from Steve McCann and what many are calling "Bestwick's best run to date," which included an alley oop 540 straight into a double downside whip.
