Time to help a BMX brother out. Mike Vincent is an integral part of the BMX community. For years, he served as an organizer for events such as the X Games and ASA BMX events, and he has judged contests such as the Rebel Jam and X Games. Mike was also an esteemed flatland and ramp rider, competing for many years at the expert level. In January of 2008, Mike was struck by a car on his bike in Los Angeles, and suffered major head trauma. Mike endured the long road to recovery, but is still suffering the effects of his accident, including a loss of eyesight and enormous medical bills. That has not stopped Mike from attending recent events, including the DK Dirt Circuit and York Jam, and even riding a bike when he gets the chance.
Unfortunately, Mike's medical bills continue to add up, including ongoing out-of-pocket expenses for a hearing aide and neurologist visits. According to Mike, "It just goes on and on," and currently, his medical bills total over $3.4 million. To help support Mike's cause, he's asking everyone to purchase a Mike V Fight for Sight t-shirt. Head over to Big Cartel and purchase a t-shirt for $15. The shirts were designed by Leif Valin and printed by Leigh Ramsdell. All proceeds go towards Mike's medical expenses. "As always, I appreciate all the support. BMX is the best," says Mike. You can also check out a more recent interview with Mike on FatBMX.
