Morgan Wade on "Daisy: A Short Film"

Daisy: A Short Film

A screen shot from "Daisy," featuring Morgan Wade and wife Natalie.

A few days ago, a short video named "Daisy: A Short Film" appeared on YouTube featuring Etnies BMX/Radio Bikes pro Morgan Wade and wife Natalie. Featuring no BMX at all, the short film was a paean to Quentin Tarantino films, and obviously, I was intrigued about the motivations behind it. So I hit up Morgan to talk about the film, and what follows is the explanation behind the film.

ESPN.com: Can you explain how the concept of the short film came to be?
Morgan: Well, it started off being just a video with a few driving test shots for my buddy Chis Rollins Web site chrisrollinsvideo.com. He needed something to put on his site to showcase his filming and editing skills.

What inspired you, the wife and filmmaker to make this happen?
After we drove around a bit and got some footage, we thought it would be cool to pick up a chick hitchhiker (my wife Natalie). We were pretty much out of ideas at that point, then we started thinking about putting something bad a$$ in the trunk. Chris got in the trunk to get the opening the lid shot. Then we were like, "Why don't we have it look like we beat someone up or something, and surprise the viewers with a little twist?" And there you have it, three days, filmed and edited! Boom!

How was it received in BMX?
So far, most everyone has liked it! I think it's gone over pretty well. I think the hardest thing is that kids can't figure out why there's no BMX in it, and the answer is that I actually do have a life outside of BMX. Apparently I just drive around with people in the trunk of my car.

Do you own the car depicted in the film?
It's a 1981 Z-28 Camaro, and I've had it for about a year and a half now. It's my project car. Everyone's gotta have one of those, right?

What's next in your film making career?
Don't know, but I'm sure we'll think of something to do. Here's an older short that we did a while back. It's kinda dumb, but we had a lot of fun making it, and that's why we did it.

I also spotted this video of Morgan riding his private setup and talking about Fuse Pads. Check it below.
