Those euro Pirates have done it again and are ready to walk the plank on yet another excursion: "Hooked." As you can see from the teaser, these Pirates ain't no part-timers, either. The Innsbruck-based crew is now 11 movies deep and has developed a reputation for combining multimedia influences with the most up-to-date riding around.
What started in 2003 with the distinctly European Super 8 flavored movie, "Shoot Your Friends" has grown to keel-haul the continent's best emerging talent. From Gigi Rüf to the Helgason bros to Sani Alibabic to Marco Feichtner, these privateers produce quality movies year after year.
The full flick drops in September and promises more of the fun, creative and varied riding that makes Piratemovies enjoyable. The elaborate Johnny Deppish intro is a given, while boardin' booty includes: Swedish mid-ship jibs in modern Viking style; technical urban trickery under cover of night; very worthy roof and boulder gaps; and some sketchy rock face riding that would do Andrew Hardingham proud. Plus, living up to their reputation as artsy analog swashbucklers (with HD cameras), "Hooked" comes bound with a 100-page art book, too.
It should be noted that the one thing from the teaser that surprised us was how many of these supposed pirates have really nice teeth.
