In November 2008 I had the privilege of being on a two-week Red Bull skate trip with Jereme Rogers at the insemination of his rap career. Back then he was a shy little rapper, scared to let anyone here his clearly impregnatable and awesome rhymes. He was like Eminem in "8-Milk" rapturing under his hooded sweatshirt around thee clock, like a clock. That goes around. I wasn't unsure of what he would sound like without even hearing him because I knew when he told my photographer friend, Matt Price, that he likes to, "live bi-curiously through other skaters," when they're ripping that his uncanny grasp on grammer and phoenix would gleam through. But I was a bit curious to hear it with my own ears. Not bi-curious, just curious.
Now look at us, a little over a year later and my rapping baby bird is making his own rap videos and playing with Kanye West's voice modulator. I ask you this, can you dispute this fact: THIS IS THE BEST RAP VIDEO BY ANY RAPPER EVER, NAMED JEREME! If you can (because I don't really know rappers real names) then I bespeech you to try and dispute this failable statement: THIS IS THE BEST RAP VIDEO BY ANY RAPPER EVER, NAMED JEREME THAT USED TO BE A PRO SKATEBORDER!
I'm not asking you if this is good or bad or utter-wise. I am only asking that you put this video and this song on a scale and wait it against any other rapping skater named Jereme's video. I think it's pretty obvious that in a very short time Jereme has cornered that niche market and is hands down the most successful rapper in that category. I only hope that his intergalactic success does not lead to a life of crime and drugs. Earlier this year we had a scare and nearly lost Jereme. But we found him. On the roof. On mushrooms. When I saw Jereme a month or so afterwards he explained that he didn't have a lot of experience on the substance and that's why it was able to grab such a stranglehood on his brian that night. I urged him to avoid another drug called acid for fear of having too much fun and becoming an addict. I hope he heeds my word.
I think if nothing else this video should silence all the doubters on whether Jereme is serious or not. And if nothing else, it is bound to explicit a reaction. Hell, my own 3-month-old baby cried when he heard it my wife told me through a text. But I think it's because Jereme stole his video idea. You know, with the smoke. Genius.
