Dear éS,

It seems like only yesterday that I was loafing my way through life in the first éS Koston 1 shoes—my chillers, the white leather ones with gum sole. Fisherman hats were in and army pants were just easing themselves out of skateboarding's collective conscious. But it was, in fact, almost 10 years ago. In the meantime, Koston's first shoe might have established itself as one the most re-created shoes in skate history,* having been revived over on Lakai during his stint there. And now the shoe is back for its original home on éS with a vulcanized sole, though without the Koston name attached since his relatively recent addition to Nike.

But, I prefer not to discuss questions of whether re-creating this shoe is appropriate, how exactly copyrighting of shoe designs even takes place (I have to say, I was confused when Lakai released their Koston One design under their name...I mean, how did they get away with that, after all?) or anything else. Just shut up éS...just shut up. With the vulcanized sole (yes, I'm aware that this is kind of a weird trend that could fade out as fast as it appeared) and the first Koston One design, you had me at hello...you had me at hello. Thank you.

*Some sneakerhead's probably going to clown me on that statement saying "yatta yatta yatt, Half Cab yatta" but whatever.

P.S. For people who can't just look at the photos of these, the vulcanized Koston One design is now called the "éS One" and will be out shortly, currently in the three colorways shown. They feel awesome. I suggest.
