If you've been tuning into ESPN FMX this past weekend, then you know that Australia's Cameron Sinclair under-rotated a double backflip in Madrid, Spain, causing him to experience an extremely brutal crash. When dealing with a serious injury situation like this things can get a bit tricky and I try not to report on any unofficial news without knowing if it's accurate or not.
So, with that being said, Cameron is still in receiving treatment in a Madrid hospital. His family has made the trek to Spain to be with him and his brother Mick posted an update on camsinclair.com.au. I'm just going to post the entire update below.
Well, after 28 hours of traveling, I'm finally in Madrid. I went from the airport straight to the hospital and was allowed to see Cam after hours. When I saw him, the 28 hours of travel were worth every second. Brooke and Monz had prepared me for the worst in regards to the way he looked, so I was prepared for the machines, the tubes and the grazes all over his face and body.
I told him I was here and he opened his eyes and tried a little smile. I asked him to squeeze my hand and he gave it a squeeze. I then told him to check out the T-Shirt I was wearing, it was a Southside/Bronte Holland T and his eyes almost popped out of his head and he tried to sit up. It was a great reaction.
We met with the Neurosurgeon not long after and they checked his brain for a second time. This time they found bleeding deep inside his brain and this is maybe the reason why he can't move the right side of his body very well. They said that it could repair itself and he will be fine and of course they have to tell us the worst, which that he may not be able to use that side of his body too well, which I'm sure won't be the case.
Now that he is breathing by himself, there was talk today that he may have the tubes removed from his mouth and nose which will make him a bit more comfortable.
We have been completely overwhelmed by the support we have received. From everyone here at Red Bull Spain with helping Mum, Bailey and myself get here to Spain. The Metal Mulisha with organizing Docter G in the US to relay back to us what the Spanish doctors have been saying. Once again, words can't describe how much we appreciate everything Maddo and Amy did while they were here and all the support from back home from the text messages we have been getting, emails from friends and the massive amount of fans, the Australian media, Fullnoise and Facebook.
The doctors have asked us to chat with him while we are in there with him. If you could, please leave a message for him here on the site and I'll print them out each day and read them to him. Mick
