Before I go any further, let me set the stage: Hollywood gossip sites are abuzz with news that Point Break 2 is moving forward, and with the follow-up budgeted at $20-30 million, Tinseltown could finally be treating us to the ultimate sequel. The synopsis breaks down as follows:
"Point Break 2 picks up from where the original film left off more than 15 years ago. The story will revolve around an ex-professional surfer who enlists in the US Navy and is recruited to track down a criminal gang based in Southeast Asia. The audience will also discover the fate of Bodhi (Patrick Swayze), the surfers' charismatic leader who was swallowed by a giant killer wave in the final scene of Point Break. Did he really die?"
Tragically, Patrick Swayze is battling stage IV pancreatic cancer and may not be able to fulfill his roll as Bodhi (which means you're also screwed if you were hoping for a sequel to Road House). ESPN Surfing would like to take just a second to wish him and his family the best throughout this ordeal, and offer him good luck with all of the struggles and challenges he's facing.
That being said, I'd like to nominate Mark Healey to stand in for the roll of Bodhi. I mean really, who better? He's developed quite a screen presence this year with all of the North Shore updates he's been doing for the Eddie Aikau, and as you can see by the clips below, he's a hell of a skydiver and ain't afraid to swim with sharks (or as he calls them "tax collectors"). Only one question remains unanswered: How would he look as an ex-president?
It's also rumored that Keanu Reeves won't be back. You got any good ideas for who could stand in for Johnny Utah? I do, but I'll save them for another post.
