    Torstein Horgmo at Dew Tour

    By Tim Brodhagen

    Published Monday January 12, 2009

Laura AustinLife is good on the podium: Torstein, front and center; Andreas Wiig (left), placed third, while Shaun White had to settle for second.
It only took me a second to hop the fence once Slopestyle was a wrap after Torstein had edged out S Dub for his first Winter Dew win. Already he'd been cornered by a grip of people waving microphones and asking their camera dudes "Is this him? Is he the winner?" In the confusion I elbowed out some sort of on-air hostess who yelled Tor-STEEN so many times homie finally had to snap "How many times do I have to say Tor-STINE??" to which she responded, "can you please spell that?" Next thing you know I was between her camera and the champ where I got a few questions in while her hot stare of ignorance tried to burn a hole in my neck. Dew Tour ya'll!

    How you feeling bro??

I feel pretty up there dude. It's ahhh, I don't think I've realized yet what happened but it's getting there for sure!

Did you come in with a planned attack for today?

I kinda figured it out in practice today so I knew what I wanted to do. But some things were uncertain too because I didn't want to plan too much. It was like as long as I had the speed for certain things I was gonna go for it, and I did, so I don't think it could have gone any better.

    Take me through the run.

It was a front blunt 270 on the up rail and then over to a switch nosepress on the flatbox, got in a cab 9 into a back 9 on the second jump and a switch lipslide on the downrail and on the first of the last two jumps I did a front 9 and then a switch back 1260.

    Are you feeling Winter Dew?

For sure. The first one was a bit edgy but I think it was because it was the first one. But the park was amazing and it seems like they picked up on all the feedback because this one is amazing. The park is so cool, a lot better than the last one. Now I can't wait to go to the next one.

Does it feel dope to win against this gnarly bunch of dudes?

I don't feel like I come here to beat people,I feel like I come here to beat myself. So I don't feel like I beat anyone today. Everyone did such a good job, it was just my moment, and everyone gets their moment. Today I guess it was mine. But yeah, it feels good!

    Congratulations bro.

    Thanks man!
